WFA Postpones King of the Streets II; Moved to 2007

The World Fighting Alliance’s scheduled December 9th event, King of the Streets 2 II, has been postponed until next year according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The WFA has yet to release a statement concerning the cancellation and a new date has not yet been set…

In my opinion the WFA is in a world of hurt.

I caught the &#8220King of the Streets&#8221 pay-per-view and it was a very poor production compared to an organization like the UFC or Pride. The lighting was very poor and it was very hard to see anything besides the octagon. Fighters were not visible as they made their way to the octagon and the crowd was almost non existent. If you watch a UFC or Pride event, entrances can be a huge part of the show and the crowdâs reaction after a KO or submission is a real pleaser. The WFA offered none of that.

So far the one promising they&#8217ve showed is they have the ability to bring in big name fighters but thatâs about it. After their first show earlier this year the organization has been pretty low key keeping alot of things to themselves. They did very little to hype up their next show and when they did so, it ended up getting postponed.

With the show being postponed you&#8217d have to think that the organization might have a few unhappy campers. Think of a guy like Heath Herring who spent a great deal of time fighting with K-1 over a contract dispute. When he finally settled things he decided to sign with the WFA and he then gets put in this situation. His fight which was supposed to take place in December gets moved to sometime in 2007. Herring&#8217s last fight took place in March of 2006 so you know he is itching to get back so this cancellation can&#8217t sit well with him.

Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that alot of the contracts signed in the WFA are 3-fight/one year contracts.

I am just disappointed to see a promotion that looked so promising in the beginning crumble before our eyes as top notch guys like Quinton Jackson, Heath Herring, Uriah Faber and Matt Lindland are forced to sit on the sidelines and wait.
