Aside from the UFC's ballyhooed charity event and the end of Jens Pulver's losing streak, there were many other notable shows taking place this past weekend.
UFC castoff Luigi Fioravanti won his fourth straight fight on Saturday, stopping Mitch Whitesel via strikes in the second round during the main event of World Extreme Fighting 45 in Jacksonville, FL.
Fioravanti has won seven out of nine since his release from the UFC in Februray 2009 following a stoppage loss to then-rising welterweight prospect Anthony Johnson.
Other winners at WEF 45 included Fabio Mello, who was awarded a decison over wily veteran Charles Bennett and middleweight prospect Derek Brunson, who defeated journeyman Danny Babcock.
"TUF 11" cast member Jamie Yager picked up his first win since the conclusion of the show, submitting Marcus Gaines with a rear-naked choke just 90 seconds into their fight at The Warriors Cage 10, which took place Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, CA.
Notable fighters victorious on the card included Palace Fighting Championship veterans Kenny Ento and Art Arciniega as well as Strikeforce alumnus Mike Cook.
Serbian MMA veteran Miodrag Petkovic also tasted defeat over the weekend, falling to light heavyweight prospect Maro Perak at Herus Fight's inaugural show in Croatia.
