Former PRIDE Fighting Championships standout Ricardo Arona will return to active competition for the first time in over two years when he takes on fellow veteran Marvin Eastman at Bitetti Combat 4 this Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It will be the first fight for Arona since losing three out of four bouts under the PRIDE banner, including a brutal knockout at the hands of a streaking Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at PRIDE 34 in April 2007. Eastman is coming off of a second-round TKO of Aron Lofton at a Maximum Fighting Championship show in May.

Joining Arona and Eastman on the main card are a trio of intriguing matchups including a light heavyweight bout between a resurgent Paulo Filho and Alex Schoenauer, an anticipated rematch between Pedro Rizzo and Jeff Monson, and Alex Stiebling coming out of retirement to face former Chute Boxe product Murilo “Ninja” Rua.

Horn-Guida Heads Arena Rumble Debut

Longtime veteran Jeremy Horn will headline the first-ever Arena Rumble event this Saturday in Spokane, Washington against journeyman and former “Ultimate Fighter” snub Jason Guida.

The bout will be Horn’s 105th as a professional. Following a failed three-fight stint with the UFC, Horn recently bounced back with a first-round submission win over prospect Chris Davis at Adrenaline MMA III in June. Guida has lost his last four fights.

UFC veterans Trevor Prangley, Brad Imes, and Terry Martin will compete in separate bouts on the undercard as well as undefeated Strikeforce prospect Lyle Beerbohm, who faces Bellator Fighting Championships veteran Josh Martin.

Frye-Herman Set for Shark Fights 6

MMA pioneer Don Frye will challenge one-time EliteXC standout Dave Herman in a heavyweight matchup that headlines Shark Fights’ sixth offering in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday.

Frye last competed at Shark Fights 4 in April, submitting former training partner Rich Moss in the first round. Herman enters the bout with a first-round TKO of Josh Barnes at a May Bellator show in his most recent outing. The undercard includes “Ultimate Fighter 7” cast member Gerald Harris going up against UFC veteran Nissen Osterneck and seasoned veteran Pat Healy taking on Anthony Waldburger.

MMA Weekly and Shark Fights’ official website will both be streaming the event live for $5.95. HDNet’s Ron Kruck will handle the play-by-play while former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten will take care of color commentating duties.
