It seems as if Tim Sylvia's days as a top heavyweight in MMA have come to an abrupt end. Long gone is the dominant and consistant former UFC heavyweight champion that we once knew.
An overweight and out-of-shape Sylvia was left dazed and confused just 32 seconds into his main event bout against "TUF 10" contestant Abe Wagner at Titan Fighting Championships 16 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
After a wild exchange on the feet between both fighters, Wagner caught Sylvia with a quick right hand. Sylvia backtracked to the other side of the cage and Wagner followed, unleashed a blitz of lefts and rights with a final combination catching Sylvia on the chin and sending him face down onto the canvas.
The loss snapped a four-fight win streak that Sylvia was attempting to use as a re-entry point into a major organization. Wagner meanwhile, has been victorious in his last two contests.
Other notable bouts from last night's show saw one-time DREAM welterweight grand prix runner-up Jason High submit Rudy Bears with a first round guillotine choke while UFC veteran Rich Clementi succumbed to a triangle choke from late notice opponent Aaron Derrow.
Fighting for the first time in over a year and a half, Miletich Fighting Systems product Drew McFedries was also victorious, scoring a come-from-behind stoppage of Gary Tapuosa.
