UFC Returns to Philadelphia in August

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is planning to return to the "City of Brotherly Love" this summer, targeting the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for a show on August 6.

MMA on Tap has confirmed the date with sources close to the event as well as officials with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission. MMAFighting.com was the first to report the news.

The UFC first visited the city in August 2009, piecing together a card that saw B.J. Penn defend his then UFC lightweight title against Kenny Florian as well as Anderson Silva's highlight-reel performance versus Forrest Griffin.

The UFC is rumored to be targeting three shows for the month of August. "UFC Rio" is already slated for August 27 in Brazil and a potential "UFC on Versus" event could be sandwiched between the two.
