A bit of a new idea here at MMA on Tap…
Instead of a live blog this evening, (the event is on Spike for everyone to see for free) we decided to try and see how an open discussion type of post would work out. So feel free to leave comments and thoughts throughout the evening while you are watching the event. David and I will be in and out to chat with everyone as well.
As always we will have a complete breakdown of the event including post-fight notes and analysis on all of the fights later tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Main Card:
Mike Swick vs. Josh Burkman
Patrick Cote vs. Drew McFedries
Nate Diaz vs. Alvin Robinson
Thiago Tavares vs. Michihiro Omigawa
Preliminary Bouts:
Kurt Pellegrino vs. Alberto Crane
Gray Maynard vs. Dennis Siver
Cole Miller vs Jeremy Stephens
Corey Hill vs. Joe Veres
Matt Wiman vs. Justin Buccholz

Tonight’s card has all the makings of being a DAMN good event. Really looking forward to it.
My picks:
Burkman (though i want Swick to win)
Patrick Cote
Nate Diaz
Thiago Tavares
Pellegrino
Gray Maynard
Jeremy Stephens

My picks (rest of ours are on the front page, second post):
Josh Burkman
Patrick Cote
Nate Diaz
Thiago Tavares
Kurt Pellegrino
Gray Maynard
Jeremy Stephens
Corey Hill
Matt Wiman

“quick” swick is going to have to be quick if he wants to beat burkman. i dont like him in this one.

I hope Tavares fight is as exciting as his fight against Griffin was

None of the fights on the main card look like they will go the distance. If Maynard can finish his opponent in seconds again it’d be nice to see him on TV again

Oh and my picks.
Burkman
Mcfedries
Robinson
Tavares
Pellegrino
Gray Maynard
Miller
Hill
Wiman

I guess I’ll post the preliminary results when I can…
Matt Wiman def. Justin Buccholz - Submission (Rear Naked Choke)

For anyone that’s watching UFC Unleashed on Spike while waiting for the event, here are the bouts they will be showing for the next two hours:
7:00-8:00 PM
Heath Herring vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Marcus Davis vs Paul Taylor
Matt Serra vs Kelly Dullanty
Wanderlei Silva vs Tony Petarra
8:00-9:00 PM:
Tyson Griffin vs David Lee
Patrick Cote vs Kendall Grove
Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk
Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine

Thank you for the list.

Corey Hill def. Joe Veres - TKO (Strikes)

Jeremy Stephens def. Cole Miller - TKO (Strikes)

Damn, I might be going undefeated tonight. I feel it.

Did the IFL just get silent-bleeped?

Fights in the audience!!! LOL

Nice F-Bomb by Patrick Cote

Recapping the night what I didn’t get from earlier:
Gray Maynard def. Dennis Siver - Unanimous Decision
Kurt Pellegrino def. Alberto Crane - TKO (Strikes)
Nate Diaz def. Alvin Robinson - Sub (Triangle)
Thiago Tavares def. Michihiro Omigawa - Unanimous Decision
Patrick Cote def. Drew McFedries - TKO (Strikes)
McFedries was waaay too confident in there. Taunted Cote by punching his own chin and then got rocked. Glad to see Cote win again.

I had the same picks as my co-worker (ERK) Not doing like I planned

nate diaz just gets it done. i thought Robinson would give him alot more trouble, but no. nice fights.

Thanks for the recaps John!

I’m looking forward to Cote-McFedries the most. It’s going to be a war. Both guys have said that they are going to stand and bang and I don’t think we should expect any different.
I’m going with Cote in this one. I think he has the better chin and the better technical stand-up to be able to pick McFedries apart while staying away from his power shots.
I just don’t know how effective McFedries is going to be coming off of an over six month layoff and a serious staph infection.
