UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine Live Results

We will be going live at 8:00 PM ET with live results of UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine, which takes place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The card will be broadcast live on pay-per-view starting at 10:00 PM ET.

The event is headlined by light heavyweight contenders bout between former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Ultimate Fighter” alumnus Keith Jardine. A heavyweight clash between undefeated prospect Shane Carwin and former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga will serve as the co-main event.

Main Card:

Gray Maynard vs Jim Miller

Round 1: Miller throws a right hand to start things off. Maynard dives in and Miller misses with a flurry. Maynard sticks a jab. They exchange punches and clinch against the cage. They exchange knees in close quarters before separating. More exchanges from each with very little landing. Maynard lands a straight right. Miller tries for a takedown but Maynard stuffs him. Miller continues to try for the takedown while Maynard balances on one foot and lands short punches. Maynard lands a knee to the body. Miller still works for a takedown to no avail. Miller is bleeding from his nose. Miller lands a body kick. Maynard lands another right just before the bell sounds to end the first round. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Maynard.

Round 2: Miller backs Maynard up with some faints to start round two. Maynard moves forward and throws a straight right. He throws another that Miller backs away from. Miller misses with a right hook. Miller lands a leg kick just before the two flurry. Miller lands a leg kick that seems to be a bit low. Miller lands a right and Maynard follows with a series of body shots. Miller lands another kick that seems to be low and referee Dan Mirgliotta gives Miller a warning. Maynard lands during an exchange. Miller lands a grazing leg kick. Miller shoots for a takedown and Maynard lands on top of him before bringing the fight back to the feet. Maynard lands another right hand and Miller’s face is covered in blood due to a huge cut under his left eye. Miller chases Maynard with flurries until the end of the round. Round 3: Maynard catches Miller with a flurry during the opening moments of the third and final round. Miller continues to land leg kicks at will. Maynard lands another straight right. Miller responds with a body kick and then misses with a Superman punch. Miller tries for another takedown but Maynard throws him aside and lands a knee. Maynard slams Miller to the ground. They scramble and Miller nearly catches Maynard in a kneebar, but Maynard gets out of the hold and the fight returns to the feet. Miller lands a right hook. Maynard stuffs another takedown attempt and lands some body shots on the ground. Miller tries multiple times to get back to his feet but Maynard holds him down with ease. Maynard sits in Miller’s half guard and lands some hard right hands. Maynard throws a few more punches before standing up. Miller tries a high kick and then desperately stalks Maynard until the horn sounds to end the fight. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Maynard and the fight 30-27 for Maynard. The judges agree.

Winner: Gray Maynard - Unanimous Decision

Matt Hamill vs. Mark Munoz

Round 1: Munoz throws an overhand right immediately to start the fight. Hamill stuffs a Munoz takedown attempt soon after. Hamill lands a right and then corners him with a flurry. Hamill swings away while Munoz tries to avoid the shots. Munoz drops down for another takedown but Hamill stuffs it and lands on top. He holds him down for a moment before standing up. Munoz tries some rights that Hamill blocks. Munoz lands a pair of uppercuts and a body shot. Munoz follows with another body shot. Hamill connects multiple times during a flurry. They trade rights that land. Hamill lands a leg kick. Munoz clips Hamill with another overhand right. Hamill lands a straight right. They clinch and Munoz tries a knee. Hamill stuffs another takedown attempt. Hamill corners Hamill up against the cage and lands a high kick that puts Munoz right to sleep. Hamill lands a couple of punches on the ground before Mirgliotta jumps in. Brutal knockout.

Winner: Matt Hamill - KO (Head Kick)

Munoz remained unconscious for a few moments and medical personnel were summoned into the cage, but he reportedly was able to walk backstage under his own power.

Pete Sell vs. Matt Brown

Round 1: Brown catches Sell with a Superman punch with the start. He follows with a head kick that rocks Sell. Brown then drops Sell with a right hand. Yves Lavigne moves in and nearly stops the bout, but then allows it to continue. Brown pounces on Sell and blasts him with a number of unanswered right hands. The bout should be stopped but it continues. Sell somehow postures up for a takedown attempt but Brown shakes him off. They stand back up and Brown continues to land continuous unanswered kicks and punches. Brown pushes Sell to the mat and lands two more shots before Lavigne finally steps in to halt the bout. Absolutely terrible officiating on Lavigne’s part.

Winner: Matt Brown - TKO (Strikes)

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shane Carwin

Round 1: They measure each other up until Carwin comes forward with a couple of right hands to begin the proceedings. They exchange with nothing landing until Gonzaga cracks Carwin with a hard right. Gonzaga backs Carwin back into the cage and takes him down. Carwin is able to get back to his feet and shortly after he does, Carwin blasts him with a right hand. Gonzaga crumples to the mat and Carwin follows up with a few more rights until Mirgliaotta jumps in and halts the fight. Huge win for Carwin in the heavyweight division.

Winner: Shane Carwin - KO (Punches)

Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine

Round 1: Jardine throws a left-right combination while Rampage charges forward from the start. They clinch against the cage. Jardine lands a short right. Lavigne moves the fight back to the center of the cage. Jardine throws a couple more combinations. Jardine follows with a leg kick. They exchange leg kicks. Jardine lands a jab and follows with a right. They exchange right hands that land before clinching up against the cage again. Jardine tries for a takedown but can’t get it so he opts for a right hand that lands instead. Lavigne warns Jardine to watch his fingers near Rampage’s eyes while punching. Jardine lands a grazing right. Rampage lands a jab and Jardine backs away from a flurry after that. Rampage catches a Jardine body kick. Rampage lands a right hand and Jardine responds with a body kick and follows with a leg kick. Jardine tries a push kick. Jardine lands a knee to the body. Rampage catches Jardine with a right hand again. They clinch and then exchange before the end of the round. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Jardine.

Round 2: Jardine lands a leg kick to start the second round. Rampage responds with one of his own. Jardine follows with a body kick. Jardine rushes Rampage with a flurry that misses. Rampage lands a stiff jab. Jardine with another leg kick. Jardine moves away from a Rampage combination. Jardine lands yet another leg kick and they each miss with wild hooks. Rampage drops Jardine with a left hook. Rampage pounces on him but Jardine survives and gets back to his feet. Jardine misses with a right and Rampage surprisingly scores a takedown, however Jardine quickly stands back up. Jardine looks fatigued. Jardine moves in and out with combinations that miss. Jardine inadverently kicks Rampage in the groin and the fight is paused for a moment. The fight is restarted and Jardine catches Rampage with an uppercut. Jardine backs Rampage against the cage and swings away. Rampage fires back before the two create distance. They each land in a flurry. Rampage lands another right hand. They flurry again against the fence before clinching until the end of the round. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Rampage.

Round 3: They exchange quick shots to start the final round. Jardine lands another body kick. Rampage throws a body kick and Jardine connects with a right hand. Jardine throws a combination and is taken down once again. Rampage controls him for a moment before the two stand back up. Rampage misses with an uppercut against the cage and Jardine backs away, landing three more leg kicks seconds later. Another leg kick lands for Jardine. Jardine lands a long uppercut and follows with a body kick. Both miss during an exchange. Rampage lands a left hook. Jardine pushes forward for a takedown but Rampage stuffs it. They clinch against the cage and Lavigne breaks them up moments later. Rampage pumps away with the jab. Rampage lands multiple times during a wild exchange. Jardine tries a high kick that just misses. Rampage blasts Jardine with a left-right combo that drops him just as the bell sounds to end the fight. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Rampage and the fight 29-28 for Rampage as well. The judges award Rampage a unanimous decision by scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 and he will now face Rashad Evans in UFC 98’s main event in May.
