The first preliminary bout of the evening will feature Matt Wiman going up against Michihiro Omigawa

Matt Wiman vs Michihiro Omigawa

Round 1: Omigawa scores early in the first round with a takedown. Wiman reverses the position and gets on top but Omigawa locks in a guillotine choke as Wiman was sitting up. Omigawa holds the choke for almost two minutes but is unable to force Wiman to tap. Wiman eventually worked his way out of the submission and worked some ground and pound. Omigawa pulls guard and tries to hold Wiman in tight but Wiman is still able to score with more punches and elbows before the end of the round.

Round 2: Omigawa scores early while the two are standing with a few rights that hit their target. Wiman was hurt by the punches but regains his composure and eventually takes Omigawa down to the canvas. They scrambled and Omigawa ended up giving Wiman his back. Wiman takes it but is unable to secure a rear naked choke. Wiman then stands up and allows Omigawa to get back up to his feet. They exchanged on the feet for the rest of the round and Wiman clearly got the better of the striking.

Round 3: Wiman opened the last round with a high kick that just missed. Wiman then backed Omigawa up against the cage with a flurry of punches. Wiman took Omigawa down to the mat once again. After another scramble, Omigawa yet again gives up his back. Wiman jumps on top but Omigawa flips Wiman back into his guard before Wiman could sink in a rear naked choke. Wiman then pounded away at Omigawa inside his guard for the remainder of the round. The strikes really did a number on Omigawa as it took him a few moments to make his way back to his corner.

MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 for Wiman and the fight 29-28 for Wiman as well. The judges score it 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 all for Wiman.

Winner: Matt Wiman - Unanimous Decision

Scott Junk will make his UFC debut in the second bout of the night when he takes on Christian Wellisch.

Scott Junk vs Christian Wellisch

Round 1: The two begin the first round exchanging on the feet. Junk scores and early and often with a stiff jab and crisp combinations. He has a decent stand-up game for such a big guy. They clinch up against the cage and Wellisch connects with a knee to the body. Wellisch then takes Junk down to the mat. Wellisch didn’t even think about attempting to pass Junk’s guard as he dropped back and locked in a heel hook that forced Junk to tap out.

Winner: Christian Wellisch - Submission (Heel Hook)

Injury replacement Diego Saraiva attempts to grab his first UFC win against Jeremy Stephens.

Jeremy Stephens vs Diego Saraiva

Round 1: Saraiva immediately fell to the ground and tripped Stephens to the ground. Saraiva jumped on Stephens back as soon as he hit the canvas. Saraiva connected with a right from behind and then attempted an unsuccessful rear naked choke. They scrambled and Saraiva caught Stephens in a triangle. Stephens picked Saraiva up and slammed him to the mat two different times in order to escape from the submission. Once he finally did, Stephens found himself on top of Saraiva and worked some ground and pound until the end of the round.

Round 2: Stephens got the better of the standup battle in the beginning of the second stanza until Saraiva pulled Stephens down to the mat. Saraiva pulled guard but Stephens was still able to land a mix of punches and elbows. Stephens continued to control Saraiva from the top position until the referee stopped the bout and brought the fighters back up to their feet. After a brief exchange standing, Saraiva pulled Stephens down once again and attempted a heel hook. Stephens was able to get out of it and the horn sounded to end the round shortly after.

Round 3: The two clinched to start the round and Stephens picked Saraiva up and slammed him to the mat. Saraiva pulls guard and Stephens pounds on Saraiva with a mix of punches, elbows, and body shots. Stephens’ aggressiveness on the ground increases as the round goes on. During the closing moments, Stephens stands up and starts throwing down bombs that Saraiva is unable to avoid. Luckily for Saraiva, Stephens runs out of time and the round ends.

MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 for Stephens and the fight 29-28 for Stephens. All three judges end up scoring the bout 30-27 three times for Stephens.

Winner: Jeremy Stephens - Unanimous Decision

The last preliminary bout will feature Anthony Johnson and last minute replacement Rich Clementi in a bout that will occur at a catchweight of 177 lbs.

Rich Clementi vs Anthony Johnson

Round 1: Johnson comes right of the gate, throwing wildly and looking to catch Clementi with a big shot. Johnson continues to throw at will during the opening moments of the fight but doesn’t land anything of note. Clementi counters his punches with leg kicks and lands one that seems to hurt Johnson. Johnson then lands a combination that knocks Clementi down. Clementi was able to regain his composure and reversed position, landing on top of Johnson. Johnson locks in a kimura and then uses the hold to get back to his feet. Johnson takes Clementi down and then works some ground and pound until the end of the round.

Round 2: Just like in the first round, Johnson starts off the round throwing wild combinations at Clementi. Clementi is able to get Johnson inside of close quarters and pulls him down to the ground. Johnson scores with some strikes from the top position but Clementi is able to sweep him and land on top. Clementi pounds away at Johnson and forces him to roll to his back. Johnson attempts a kimura but is unable to hold on. Clementi then sinks in a rear naked choke and eventually forces Johnson to tap out. Right after Johnson tapped, he was put to sleep.

Winner: Rich Clementi - Submission (Rear Naked Choke)

Live card time folks, Mr. White taking over…

Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan grace the broadcast booth to breakdown Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine. With a win tonight, we will see “The Iceman” face Wanderlei Silva in December.

First up is a lightweight clash between Tyson Griffin and Thiago Tavares.

Thiago Tavares vs. Tyson Griffin

Round 1: The fight begins with a glove touch. Both fighters feel each other with Griffin missing a few wild punches while Tavares looks to utilize some kicks. Griffin working the 1-2 combo as the crowd begins to get restless. Tavares returns fire with some straight shots then eats a hard low kick. Griffin shoots in and puts Tavares on the canvas. Griffin postures up and lands a bomb from the top. Tavares attempts to grab ahold of a held but Griffin scrambles. They return to the feet and Griffin lands a good right and then immediately goes to the clinch. They scramble as Tavares attempts to sweep Griffin. They hit the canvas and Griffin attempts a guillotine. Griffin postures up and avoids some Tavares upkicks before landing some ground and pound. Tavares attempts attacking the leg again but Griffin escapes. Tavares momentarily gets his back and then slips off. Griffin postures up with some more big shots as he pins Tavares against the cage. Tavares attempts an omaplata that fails. They return to the feet and Griffin lands a big right then Tavares shoots for a single that fails. The round ends in the clinch.

Round 2: The second begins with a glove touch and then Griffin comes forward with a combo that misses. Tavares jumps up with a big flying knee that looks to rock Griffin. Tavares quickly moves forward and avoids a big punch from Griffin before putting him on his back. Tavares lands some shots from the top and then secures the mount. Griffin tries bucking Tavares and gives up his back. He stands up while Tavares works for the choke. Griffin doing a good job of defending while standing. Finally he is able to escape and gain top position. Tavares transitions to an armbar. Griffin escapes and lands a good right. Griffin postures up and lands some hard rights. Tavares switches and gains top position. As he does Griffin goes for a guillotine which he escapes. Immediately Tavares takes Griffin’s back. Again Griffin stands up while Tavares goes for the choke. He dumps Tavares on his head and opens up a cut on the right eyebrow of Tavares. Tavares eye is visibly swollen.

Round 3: The final stanza begins with Tavares shooting in and getting stuffed. They clinch along the cage and Tavares lands a knee to the body. Griffin landing some good shoulder shots before being taken down by Tavares. Tavares immediately goes for a omaplata. Griffin spins out showing beautiful technique. They clinch again along the cage. An attempted trip fails as both guys hit their heads on the canvas. They return to the feet and clinch again along the cage. Griffin throwing a few knees to the legs as he attempts to get the takedown. Huge elbow from Griffin as Tavares immediately shoots in. They return to the center of the cage and exchange a few shots. Tavares shoots in and puts Griffin on the canvas. Griffin quickly returns to his feet and they clinch again. Griffin gets double underhooks and tries hard for a takedown but fails. Good knee from Griffin as he falls backwards. Tavares gets top position and takes Griffin’s back. He tries transitioning to an arm. He then goes for a leg and gains top position as the round ends.

The next bout is Ryoto Machida vs Kazuhiro Nakamura. Can’t wait to see Nakamura’s entrance!

- Nakamura comes out sporting a blue gi while walking out with a Chinese umbrella.

Round 1: The fight begins with a glove touch. Immediately Machida lands a low kick followed by a body kick. They clinch and Machida lands some knees while against the cage. They separate and return to the middle. Excellent knee to the body from Machida. Hard body kick by Machida. They clinch and Nakamura attempts a judo throw the fails. Machida gains top position and immediately half guard. They return to the feet and exchange knees against the cage. Good low kick from Machida. Attempted high kick blocked. They clinch again and Machida misses with a big uppercut. They return to the middle and Nakamura slips during an exchange with Machida gaining top position. Machida lands some good short elbows from Nakamura’s half guard. Machida postures up and tries some unsuccessful ground and pound.

Round 2: The second begins with a flurry from Machida as Nakamura slips and Machida begins to rain down some good ground and pound. Nakamura weathers the storm but ends up giving up mount. He tries rolling and gives up his back. Nakamura tries spinning again and gives up mount again. Machida lands a hard elbow and Nakamura rolls again. Machida almost locking in the choke but Nakamura does an excellent job of fighting through it. Nakamura scrambles and gets ahold of Machida’s legs. He fails his takedown attempt and Machida gets the mount again. Machida working the elbows from the top. Good ground and pound from Machida as Nakamura scrambles and returns to his feet. They clinch along the cage. Machida lands some knees to the body. Nakamura gets in a good left and then eats a shot. Another big shot from Nakamura. Good uppercut from Machida as they clinch again. Nakamura secures a takedown and gains top position. He postures up and lands an elbow as the round ends.

Round 3: The final stanza begins with Nakamura missing some wild shots. Machida missing with a spinning back kick and then immediately Nakamura scores a takedown. Machida quickly stands up and they clinch along the cage. Nakamura attempts a judo throw but fails. Machida scores an easy trip and begins to work from Nakamura’s half guard. Machida gains the mount but quickly Nakamura rolls. They return to the feet and Nakamura’s corner throws a big uppercut. Wild shots from Machida that misses. Hard left hand from Machida. Blood coming from the nose of Nakamura. Nakamura attempts another throw that fails. Knees to the body from Machida. Hard right elbow from Machida. They continue to clinch along the cage as the crowd gets restless. Good knees from Machida. Hard left elbow followed by some good body shots. Nice elbow throw by Nakamura. Good left from Machida and then the fight ends.

The next bout of the evening is Diego Sanchez vs Jon Fitch.

Round 1: The fight begins with Sanchez immediately charging out and going for the takedown. Fitch stuffs the immediate onslaught while Sanchez continues to work. Fitch misses with a high kick. Sanchez shoots in again and misses. Leg kick from Fitch before they clinch again. Knees to the body from Diego. He changes levels and goes for the single again but fails. Knee to the midsection from Diego. They continue to stall as Fitch is content with holding on. They separate and Diego secures a takedown. Immediately Fitch reverses it and puts Diego on his back. Short shots from the top. Diego rolls for an armbar but ends up letting it go. Fitch working from the top as he gets Diego pinned against the cage. Again Diego rolls for an armbar. Fitch tries spinning to the back and Diego goes for his leg in the process.

Round 2: The round starts with Diego throwing a punch and immediately shooting in. Fitch reverses in and quickly gains top position. They separate and stand back up. Fitch attempts a kick and Diego catches it and puts Fitch on his back. Fitch tries scrambling and putting Diego on his back. Fitch reverses him and attempts to take Diego’s back. Fitch only has one hook dialed in while they work on the canvas. Diego scrambles and switches position getting in Fitch’s guard. Fitch picks Diego up and secures a huge beautiful takedown. They scramble and Fitch again gets top position. A few good shots from Fitch as he works from the top. Hard shots as Fitch fires away from the top. Diego continuously trying to secure an armbar but he eats hammerfists in the process. Diego cut on the bridge of the nose as the round ends.

Round 3: The round begins with a glove touch as they meet in the center of the cage. Fitch flicking out his jab and then he throws a high kick that is blocked. Fitch shoot in and immediately Diego latches on a deep guillotine. Working hard for the guillotine Fitch gives the crowd a thumbs up. Fitch pops up and begins to work from the top. Diego begins to work for a kimura on Fitch’s right arm. Fitch gets his arm free. Fitch looking content to just work from the top position. Not a ton of action. Finally Fitch passes as Diego attempts to scramble. Sanchez locks on a triangle but luckily Fitch is able to escape. Diego going for a triangle again but Fitch is able to escape again as the round ends.

I don’t understand how this fight was declared a split decision yet Griffin-Tavares was a unanimous?

The next bout of the evening is Forrest Griffin vs Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

First out is former PRIDE ace Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Shogun looks very calm and composed.

Next out TUF season 1 champion Forrest Griffin. The crowd goes wild as Griffin walks out to “Shipping up to Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys.

Round 1: The fight begins with a low kick from Forrest. Immediately Shogun moves in and tries to take Griffin down. He fails and Griffin takes top position. They stand back up. Low kick from Griffin. Good low kick from Shogun. Two punches miss from Griffin. Shogun shoots in and puts Forrest on his back. Good elbows from Shogun. Shogun working from Griffin’s guard. Excellent left from Shogun. Shogun postures up but Griffin doing a great job of controlling his wrists. Good left elbow from Shogun. Griffin holding on tight and they stand. Good uppercut from Griffin. Missed high kick from Shogun. They exchange bombs. Forrest secures a good takedown. Shogun gets his guard as Forrest rains down from the top. They stand again and Griffin tosses a few jabs. Body kick from Griffin. Excellent left from Forrest that dazes Shogun. Good lefts from Shogun that pop Griffin. Shogun goes for a takedown and gets Forrest on his back. Shogun trying to pass the guard of Griffin. Shogun gets to half guard and then postures up. Forrest sweeps and gains top position. The round ends with Forrest throwing a right.

Forrest puts Shogun on his back and lands some excellent punches from the top. They stand again. Good right hand from Forrest. Both fighters winging punches and Shogun shoots in again. Good hammerfists to the head from Forrest. They stand again Shogun looks tired.  Body kick from Shogun. High kick from Shogun blocked. Shogun shoots again and Forrest is able to stuff it. Both fighters looking very tired as they miss punches. Good left hook from Shogun. High kick misses from Shogun. Shogun dead tired. Good right from Shogun. Another stuffed takedown as Forrest gains top position. Good shots from the top by Forrest. Shogun in serious trouble. Good lefts from Forrest as he pins Shogun’s arms. Rights and lefts from Griffin as the round ends.

Round 3: The final stanza begins with a good jab from Griffin. Forrest landing good leg kicks. Immediately Shogun shoots in and puts Forrest on his back. Griffin going for a triangle. Shogun fends off the attack as he begins to work from Griffin’s guard. Shogun doing very little from the top as the crowd boos. Two left elbows from Shogun. Griffin going for an omaplata and then Shogun’s back. Shogun attempts to take Forrest down but winds up on the bottom. Good left elbows from Griffin. Good punches from the top as Forrest continues to work away. Shogun gives up his back again and Forrest gives him a few shots to the side of the head. Knees to the body by Griffin as Shogun does very little. Griffin in Shogun’s half guard as he works away from the top. Good rights from the top. Shogun gives up his back and griffin sinks in the hooks and secures a rear naked choke. Shogun is forced to tap and Griffin is declared the winner.

Next up is the main event featuring former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Keith Jardine.

Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine

Jardine begins to make his way out of the back as the bagpipes play. The crowd gives Jardine little reaction as he was towards the cage with hands raised in the air.

Next out is the former champ Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell. The lights dim and his trademark DMX song begins to vibrate throughout the arena. Chuck looking excited as ever as he bounces around in the back of the arena. The crowd begins to go wild as Liddell makes his way towards the cage.

Round 1: The fight begins with Jardine coming in with an uppercut that misses. Good low kick from Jardine. Another nice leg kick from Jardine. Jardine lands a good right hand. Chuck eats another punch as he misses with a few. Chuck with a good left followed by a left right combo. Hard right from Chuck as he stalked Jardine. Good right left combo from Chuck. Good left from Jardine. Overhand right from Jardine. Low kick from Jardine. Another low kick but Liddell checks it. Good left from Liddell but Jardine answers with a good leg kick. Liddell lands a good jab followed by and overhand that misses. Huge right from Jardine. Another hard combo by Jardine. Good left from Liddell. Straight kick from Jardine. Liddell looks to have taken a poke in the eye. Missed high kick from Jardine. Chuck moves forward with a flurry including a body kick. Good uppercut from Liddell. Overhand right from Jardine that lands. Good lefts from Liddell as he charges forward. Jardine does well to avoid it. Good leg kick from Jardine.
