UFC 65: Bad Intentions Predictions

Hey gang.

I agree with your predictions, however I’m pulling for Jeff Monson to upset Sylvia.  My gut says that he will get knocked out by a big punch, but if he can weasel his way in and get Sylvia down somehow, I believe he will pull it off.
Will you guys be posting by the fight?

I can’t believe that both of you are picking Frank Mir over Brandon Vera! Brandon should beat Mir impressively. I look to his victory over Fabiano Scherner, an equally large and imposing character as Mir, as insight into how this bout will go. Mir is more skilled than Scherner but it does offer a look at how the fight will play out. Mir’s only advantage in this fight is his size. Brandon is better with his skills, fitness and mental preparation and has shown that he can handle a size disadvantage well.

While Mir may well catch up and become a great heavyweight again it’s not for a while I would say.

I’ll be honest, I thought long and hard before picking Mir. If Vera does win, he’s going to stop Mir, I don’t see this one going to a decision. However the size advantage that Mir has may come in handy in this fight. If he can get Vera on the ground and hold him there, he can definitely submit him. For some reason, that’s exactly what I see happening tonight…

As for the play-by-play for the PPV, I won’t have the event tonight but I think that Scott will. I’m not sure whether he will be watching it at home or out with friends so I’m not sure about the live blog at this point…

As for my picks… I was really having a tough time with the Vera - Mir pick. My head said Vera and my heart said Mir, so I went with my heart. That will likely hurt me in the end.
