UFC 103: “Franklin vs. Belfort” Live Results

We will be going live at 6:00 PM ET with live results of UFC 103: “Franklin vs. Belfort”, which will take place at a sold out American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The event’s televised main card will be broadcast live on pay-per-view starting at 10:00 PM ET. An additional hour of preliminary bouts will also be shown on Spike TV starting at 9:00 PM ET prior to that.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort headlines the event, returning to the UFC in a 195 lb catchweight bout against former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin. A heavyweight contenders clash between formidable strikers Mirko Cro Cop and Junior Dos Santos serves as the co-main event.

Drew McFedries vs. Tomasz Drwal

Round 1: McFedries checks a Drwal leg kick early and throws a combination. The same thing happens again. Drwal pushes McFedries up against the cage and throws a left and a right before McFedries moves away. McFedries comes inside with some uppercuts. They go back and forth with McFedries the busier striker. McFedries is cut below his left eye. Drwal misses with a right hand and McFedries tosses him aside. McFedries misses a telegraph left. Drwal clinches with McFedries and scores a takedown. McFedries stands back up. Drwal pushes McFedries up against the cage and throws some knees to the back of the legs and face. They go toe-to-toe before McFedries stuffs another takedown attempt. McFedries looks to his corner and then surprisingly connects wtih a flurry. Drwal responds with shots and they bang away. Drwal connects with a left-right combo. McFedries responds with a right. Drwal with another right and an uppercut that drops McFedries. Drwal gets on top of McFedries and works some ground and pound. He mounts McFedries and takes his back just as the round ends. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Drwal.

Round 2: Drwal stalks McFedries early and connects with more punches. He’s able to take McFedries down again and lands in side control. Drwal mounts him and sinks in a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap. Impressive showing by Drwal.

Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller

Round 1: Miller starts things off with a front kick. He lands another and misses with a high kick. Escudero lunges with an overhand left that comes up short. Miller lands a right and a jab. Escudero responds with an uppercut. Escudero catches a Miller leg kick and drops him with a right, but allows him to stand back up. Miller catches Escudero with another right. They exchange and Escudero grazes Miller with an attempted knee to the face. Miller misses with another head kick and Escudero picks Miller up and slams him down. Miller scrambles to his feet and Escudero blasts him with a right hand. Miller crumples to the canvas and Escudero follows up with a few more punches that put Miller to sleep. Miller stays down for a few moments before rising up to his feet and congratulating Escudero.

Main Card:

Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca

Round 1: Franca tries a spinning back kick and Griffin counters with a pair of leg kicks. Griffin continues to land leg kicks. Griffin connects with a body shot. Another leg kick from Griffin. Franca misses with an overhand right. Body kick by Griffin. Griffin clips Franca with a left hook. Griffin throws a hard right and a head kick followed by another body kick. Virtually no offense from Franca so far. Griffin lands a combo and yet another leg kick. Franca tries to catch a Griffin leg kick but can’t get it. The crowd is disgruntled at the overall lack of action. Griffin grazes Franca with a right and Franca drops to his knees for a split second. Griffin lands a jab. He continues his leg kick assault until the end of the round. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Griffin.

Round 2: Franca misses with a combination to start the second round. Franca lands a couple of wild shots and Griffin counters with a right that drops Franca. Franca gets back up and eats a knee from Griffin. The two go toe-to-toe with winging punches. Franca finally catches a Griffin leg kick and swings away with hooks while Griffin does the same. The pace has picked up big time. They exchange right hands. Griffin lands a running leg kick. Griffin smacks Franca with a left-right combination. He follows with a stiff jab. Franca blocks a head kick attempt. Griffin still landing unanswered leg kicks. He drops Franca with a right hand and pounces on him, pounding away with relentless bombs. Franca covers up but Griffin still manages to get through and puts Franca to sleep with punches.

Winner: Tyson Griffin - KO (Punches)

Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg

Round 1: Koscheck and Trigg paw away at each other with short jabs to begin the proceedings. Koscheck misses with two wide rights and Trigg connects with a straight one of his own. Koscheck misses with a body shot. They continue to trade but can’t find their mark. Koscheck clips Trigg on the back of the head and then drops a stunned Trigg with a hard right. Trigg stays down on the mat and Koscheck punches away with unanswered shots until referee Leon Roberts steps in and stops the bout. Trigg immediately stands and argues about the stoppage, but the replay shows it was definitely warranted.

Winner: Josh Koscheck - TKO (Strikes)

Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley

Round 1: Kampmann and Daley go toe-to-toe right away to start the fight. Daley lands a left hook. Kampmann’s corner calls for a takedown and Kampmann attempts one but Daley stuffs it. Daley lands a few more shots. Kampmann answers back but Daley continues to land. They exchange and Daley lands a left hook flush to Kampmann’s face. They exchange in close and both land heavy shots. Daley shakes off another takedown attempt. Kampmann lands a right and Daley reacts with a combo that lands as well. Kampmann pushes Daley against the cage and lands a nice knee. Daley hurts Kampmann with a right hand. Kampmann stumbles backwards and Daley fires away, landing a number of unanswered shots. Kampmann is out on his feet and referee Yves Lavigne rushes in to stop the fight.

Winner: Paul Daley - TKO (Punches)

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Junior Dos Santos

Round 1: Dos Santos pushes Cro Cop up against the cage for a short moment to start round one. Cro Cop moves away from some winging hooks coming from Dos Santos. Cro Cop tries a high kick but Dos Santos is able to deflect it away. Cro Cop lands a body kick. Dos Santos corners Cro Cop against the fencing and lands a hard flurry of punches. He chases Cro Cop and lands a right hand. Dos Santos tries one of his patented uppercuts but Cro Cop blocks it. They clinch and Cro Cop muscles Dos Santos against the cage. Cro Cop tries to swing Dos Santos for a takedown but Dos Santos momentarily ends up on top before they stand back up. Cro Cop connects with a left that stuns Dos Santos. Cro Cop shakes off another flurry from Dos Santos. They clinch again and Dos Santos lands a knee. Cro Cop lands a straight left just as time expires. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round 2: Dos Santos cracks Cro Cop with a right hand in the first action of the second round. Cro Cop misses with a high kick but comes back with two leg kicks. Dos Santos rocks Cro Cop with a right but Cro Cop returns fire with two straight lefts that land. Dos Santos with a body shot. Dos Santos grazes Cro Cop with a jab. Dos Santos backs Cro Cop up with punches and partially lands an uppercut. Cro Cop misses once again with a high kick. Dos Santos lands two more to the body. Dos Santos chases Cro Cop some more and lands two rights. Dos with a knee to the body. Cro Cop inadvertently kicks Dos Santos in the groin and the fight is paused. Referee Dan Miragliotta gives Dos Santos five minutes to recover and uses a minute and a half. The bout is restarted and Dos Santos cuts Cro Cop open with a right hand. Cro Cop catches a body kick from Dos Santos just before the round ends. MMA on Tap scores the round 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round 3: Cro Cop lands a strong left hand to start the final round. Both fighters clip each other with jabs. Dos Santos lands a body shot and Cro Cop reponds with a leg kick. Dos Santos lands a pair of knees. Cro Cop slips and falls back. Dos Santos pressures him and starts to land at will with knees and punches. Cro Cop is hurt and wobbles back. Dos Santos blasts him with another right and lands a number of knees in the clinch. Dos Santos back away from Cro Cop, who is favoring his eye. Dos Santos starts to celebrate and Cro Cop tells Miragliotta that he can’t see. The fight is promptly stopped.

Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort

Round 1: Belfort lands a leg kick to start things off. Franklin ducks away from a Belfort left. Belfort lands a leg kick of his own. Belfort catches a Franklin leg kick and grazes a right hand past him. They come up short with jabs. Belfort throws a combo that Franklin ducks underneath. They exchange flurries. Belfort clips Franklin with an overland left and Franklin hits the canvas. Belfort lands another left while Franklin gets to his knees. Franklin crumples to the mat and Belfort lands a couple more punches to an unresponsive Franklin before referee Yves Lavigne jumps in.
