A scheduled light heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and “Ultimate Fighter 3” product Matt Hamill has reportedly been moved from UFC 101 in Philadelphia to UFC 102, which is expected to take place at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon on August 29.

According to MMA Junkie, a reason for the fight being moved has not been given, but the bout is currently in the process of being finalized for the event, which will likely be headlined by former Oregon resident Randy Couture taking on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

After a fall from grace in the heavyweight division resulting in two straight losses, Vera dropped down to the 205 lb weight class where he has posted a 2-1 record. A lackluster split decision loss to Keith Jardine is currently sandwiched in between wins over Reese Andy and Mike Patt.

Hamill bounced back from a disappointing loss to former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin last September to record two straight wins. “The Hammer” scored a second-round stoppage of Andy in December and then brutally knocked out Mark Munoz with a head kick at UFC 96 last month in his most recent bout.

Joining Vera-Hamill on the UFC 102 fight card will also be a heavyweight contest between Brazilian upstart Junior dos Santos and longtime veteran Justin McCully, which has been agreed to by both fighters according to MMA Weekly.

“Cigano” bursted onto the UFC heavyweight scene in a big way, upsetting one-time title contender Fabricio Werdum with a stunning TKO victory at UFC 90 last October. He then went on to easily stop newcomer Stefan Struve at UFC 95 in February.

Since entering the UFC ranks two years ago, McCully has posted a 2-1 record in the organization’s heavyweight division. He debuted with a uneventful decision win over Antoni Hardonk and was then sidelined by injury for over a year before returning and being submitted by Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 86 last July. McCully most recently won a unanimous decision over Eddie Sanchez at the UFC’s “Fight for the Troops” in December.
