Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has been literally begging for one more shot in the UFC, of which he reigned over the heavyweight division for two separate stints. Unforunately, a continous Twitter campaign and constant mentions in interviews and video blogs have led to UFC President Dana White to flat out say that Sylvia will never be back in the UFC multiple times now.
Despite all of this, Sylvia now says that he has some news to break during his special guest appearance at New England Fights "Fight Night 2" event next weekend in Biddeford, Maine. From a press release sent out by the promotion:
“Tim Sylvia is the biggest – both figuratively and literally – fighter with Maine roots that we could bring in to put this Biddeford show over the top,” stated NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “And to add to it, Tim will be making a special announcement about his career at the show. He wanted to do this in his home state in front of his fans, friends, family, and neighbors — this is not to be missed!”
“I’m excited to be coming home to Maine in the next week or so… and I have a big announcement my fans won’t want to miss!” said former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia when reached for comment.
