Three Fights Added to UFC 89 in England

The Ultimate Fighting Championship today formally announced three additional bouts that will take place at UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben on October 18th at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. The most noteworthy bout is a light heavyweight matchup between Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Luis Cane.

Both Sokoudjou and Cane are coming off of impressive performances. Sokoudjou stopped fellow PRIDE veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura in the first-round of their fight at UFC 84: Ill Will due to a leg injury while Cane destroyed Jason Lambert in just two minutes at UFC 85: Bedlam last month.

Additional bouts also made officially today included Dan Hardy’s UFC debut against the always entertaining Akihiro Gono and heavyweight prospect Shane Carwin looking for his second straight UFC knockout win against fellow heavy-hitter Neil Wain.

UFC 89 will be headlined by a middleweight clash between England native Michael Bisping and hard-hitting popular veteran Chris Leben. The two were originally set to throw down in June but a mandatory jail sentence stemming from a probation violation forced Leben to withdraw from the anticipated matchup.
