The Daily Recap: Pickett-Barao Set for UFC 138, Boetsch, Ring to Meet in October & More

— Rising featherweight contenders Brad Pickett and Renan Barao have been signed to meet in a potential main card affair at UFC 138 on November 5 in Birmingham, England. Pickett has won ten out of his last eleven, most recently knocking off a returning Ivan Menjivar via unanimous decision at the WEC's final show in December. Barao has won all three of his bouts under the Zuffa banner to date, including a decision win over former WEC featherweight title holder Cole Escovedo in May. [The Daily Telegraph]

— Fresh off of a win oveR "TUF 3" winner Kendall Grove in his debut at middleweight, wrestling product Tim Boetsch is set to face undefeated Canadian grappler Nick Ring at UFC 135 on September 24. Boetsch opted to drop to 185 lbs after earning a 3-3 mark as a light heavyweight in the UFC. His opponent, Ring, is perfect thus far in his professional career. Some of his notable wins include submissions of Bill Mahood and James Head and a controversial decision over DEEP middleweight king Riki Fukuda. [UFC.com]

— Heralded light heavyweight prospect Marcos Rogerio "Pezao" de Lima revealed on Tuesday that he has signed to face American Kickboxing Academy veteran Mike Kyle in a 205 lb contest at Strikeforce's newly scheduled September 10 event. "Pezao" is a perfect 8-0 to start his career, which catapulted into the limelight following a decision win over former PRIDE and WEC standout Paulo Filho last October. Kyle had a six-fight undefeated streak snapped by Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix semifinalist Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in December. [Sherdog]

— Power MMA co-founder Aaron Simpson will take on Nick Catone in a middleweight matchup booked for UFC 136 on October 8 in Houston, Texas. Simpson has rebounded from a two-fight losing streak with two straight wins in the form of  unanimous decisions over Mario Miranda and Brad Tavares. Catone returned to action for the first time in over a year in March, defeating newcomer Constantinos Philippou over three rounds at UFC 128. [UFC.com]

— "TUF 9" runner-up DaMarques Johnson has inked a bout agreement to meet "TUF 13" contestant Clay Harvison at UFC Fight Night 25 on September 17. Johnson is coming off of a submission loss to Amir Sadollah at UFC Fight Night 24 in March while Harvison picked up his first UFC win with a split decision over fellow castmate Justin Edwards in June.
