The injury bug continues to wreak havoc on the UFC as Eddie Yagan and Gray Maynard join Shane Carwin as the next group fighters to withdraw from upcoming bouts.
Yagan was forced to pull out of his fight with Dennis Siver after he was hospitalized with swelling around his brain. According to the report, Yagan returned home following a training session and after suffering from a headache and vomiting, Yagan went to the ER and was subsequently hospitalized. Yagan’s doctor stated that he didn’t feel that surgery was necessary and that the swelling should go down in the next few days. Nam Phan will replace Yagan and face Siver at UFC on FX 5. [MMAWeekly]
In other news, Joe Lauzon announced on Facebook that Maynard was injured and his new opponent would be Jim Miller. No details were released regarding Maynard’s injury.
Dana White has confirmed that The Ultimate Fighter will be moving back to Wednesday nights. The move is expected to take place in January with TUF 17 featuring coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen. [MMA Fighting]
More details have emerged regarding the injury to TUF 16 coach Shane Carwin. Carwin’s manager, Jason Genet, told Fighters.com that Carwin partially tore his PCL, LCL and popliteus. According to the report, Carwin will begin rehabbing the knee tomorrow and see a specialist later in the week. Genet hopes Carwin will be ready to return in February.
