The Daily Recap: Ebersole Replaces Patrick, Bisping Sets Sights on Belcher & More

— The UFC this afternoon announced that rising welterweight contender and seasoned veteran Brian Ebersole will replace an injured Claude Patrick against James Head in a welterweight affair at UFC 149 later this month in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ebersole enters the fight on less than three weeks notice just a couple of weeks after winning a unanimous decision over T.J. Waldburger at UFC on FX 4 on June 22. [UFC.com]

— Michael Bisping made an appearance on Tuesday's edition of UFC Tonight to discuss his recovery from recent knee surgery and ended up calling out a couple of potential foes along the way, including Alan Belcher. "Alan Belcher’s somebody that’s been calling me out for seems like forever now," Bisping said on the show. "To be quite frank I’m sick of it. So, Alan Belcher if your balls are big enough, call Joe Silva and let’s do it." [MMA Weekly]

— A non-tournament bout between Ben Saunders and longtime journeyman Brian Warren has been booked for a catchweight of 178 lbs at Bellator 72 on July 20 at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida. Saunders last dropped a unanimous nod to Bryan Baker at Bellator 67 in May, while Warren has pieced together a five-fight win streak dating back to 2010. [MMA Junkie]

— 23-year-old grappling wizard Gunnar Nelson has reportedly  "provisionally accepted" an offer from the UFC. Nelson, who has been rumored to be making the jump to the UFC for a couple of years now, is undefeated in ten pro fights, with six of his wins coming by way of submission. Nelson would apparently make his promotional debut at the UFC's scheduled September 29 show in Nottingham, England. [Fighters Only Magazine]

— Undefeated Swedish light heavyweight prospect Jorgen Kruth will make his UFC debut against fellow heavy-hitter Fabio Maldonado on the undercard of UFC on FUEL TV 5, which is slated for September 29 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England. [UFC.com]
