Longtime heavyweight king and new Strikeforce acquisition Fedor Emelianenko will be part of an open workout session this Wednesday in New York City. The event is free and open to the public, fans and media alike.
The festivities, which will also include a meet-and-greet and an autograph session with Emelianenko, is slated to begin at 3:30 PM ET at the Fighthouse MMA gym, which is located at 122 West 27th Street, 2nd Floor in Manhattan.
Emelianenko recently became a free agent after Affliction Entertainment swiftly folded their doors as an MMA promotion last month. After negotiations with the UFC fell apart, Emelianenko opted to sign a three-fight deal with San Jose-based Strikeforce, which has also agreed to co-promote with M-1 Global, an organization co-owned by the Russian.
A fall debut for Emelianenko is currently on the table. A list of potential opponents has surfaced, but a matchup has not yet been finalized. Strikeforce heavyweight contenders Fabricio Werdum and Brett Rogers seem to be the leading contenders.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker and M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein are also scheduled to appear at Wednesday’s event. Those interested in attending can find additional information at Fighthouse.com or by calling the gym at (212) 807-9202.
