The UFC is reportedly bringing a lineup full of established veterans and newly-signed prospects to its promotional debut in Sweden this spring for UFC on FUEL TV 2, which will take place on April 14 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm.
Among the bouts expected to be televised on the event's main card is former WEC light heavyweight champion Brian Stann's return to action against fellow striker Alessio Sakara in a middleweight bout.
Other matchups first reported by MMA NYTT, include Cyrille Diabate facing UFC newcomer Jorgen Kruth, highly-touted middleweight prospect Magnus Cedenblad challenging Georges St. Pierre training partner Francis Carmont and longtime European veteran Simeon Thoresen taking on Besam Yousef.
Stann had an impressive run through the middleweight division ended by Chael Sonnen at UFC 136 in October, tapping to an arm-triangle choke in the second round. His opponent, Sakara has not fought since dropping a unanimous decision to Chris Weidman last March due to injuries.
Diabate has split a total of four bouts under the UFC banner thus far. Wins over Luiz Cane and Steve Cantwell are sandwiched in between losses to Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Perosh. Kruth has won all five of his pro bouts to date, finishing every opponent in the first round. Surprisingly, Kruth entered the sport late however as he is already 37-years-old.
Cedenblad, who has finished all but one fight as a pro, makes his UFC debut against Carmont, who was victorious in his first UFC fight, winning a three-round nod over Chris Camozzi at UFC 137 this past fall.
Thoresen, a six-year veteran of the sport, is a well-known veteran in the European circuit. He enters the bout winning five of his last six. Some of Thoresen's notable opponents include Eiji Ishikawa and Fabricio Nascimento. Local product Yousef is perfect in six fights as a professional. He has made his bones as a veteran of Zone Fighting Championship, where he has submitted half of his foes.
