The show, which will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, features a main event between current welterweight champions Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra who will unify their belts in a main event rematch of their fight at UFC 69: Shootout last year, where Serra stopped St. Pierre with strikes to win the UFC welterweight title.
According to UFC President Dana White, the event is the fastest sellout in the promotion’s history.
“Most of the tickets for UFC 83 were sold in the first 24 hours of our UFC Fight Club presale, and the rest were gone within one minute of the public on-sale today,” said White in a recent press release. “I’m excited to say that this event is a sellout, and the fastest one in UFC history, so it’s safe to say we definitely will be back in Canada after this inaugural event.”
The UFC has also announced that they are currently researching additional viewing options for fans who could not obtain a ticket to the event and will post any information on their findings as soon as possible.
