The International Fight League has announced that a light heavyweight bout between former “Ultimate Fighter” contestant Alex Schoenauer and local product Brendan Barrett will take place when the promotion travels to East Rutherford, New Jersey for their next event on April 4th.
The organization announced the news today via a press release sent out to the media.
Since joining the ranks of the IFL in the spring of 2006, Schoenauer has put up a record of 4-5. Currently fighting out of the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas, Schoenauer has dropped his last two bouts, including a light heavyweight title fight against Vladimir Matyushenko, who was victorious by unanimous decision.
Barrett is a veteran of the Reality Fighting and Extreme Challenge promotions. He last competed against Tim Boetsch in July 2007, ultimately being submitted courtesy of a Boetsch guillotine choke.
Three title fights are scheduled to headline the event. IFL light heavyweight champion Vladimir Matyushenko will make his first title defense against New Jersey native Jamal Patterson.
Popular welterweight champion and Xtreme Couture product Jay Hieron will attempt to keep his belt around his waist when he goes up against former U.S. Marine Mark Miller.
