Super heavyweight fighter Ross Clifton, best known for a first-round submission loss to Ken Shamrock at a War Gods event earlier this year,  has died of an apparent heart attack. Clifton was 32 years old.

UFC veteran Cal Worsham, Clifton’s former trainer, confirmed his death with MMA Weekly yesterday. Bob Carson was the first to report the disheartening news.

Clifton’s wife reportedly found him dead on Friday morning in their Rancho Cordova, California home. A cause of death has not yet been determined but a heart attack is suspected.

A longtime veteran of Gladiator Challenge events, Clifton racked up a 6-10 record over an eight-year career. He last competed at Gladiator Challenge’s “Total Recall” event on July 31, falling to Rick Vardell via a first-round TKO in a failed bid for the Gladiator Challenge super heavyweight title.
