No, not that Yoshida. Shooto veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida has signed on with Zuffa and is expected to compete in the UFC’s welterweight division according to a report by Sherdog’s Jordan Breen.
After suffering his last two losses in 2005, Yoshida has gone on to win eight straight fights including an impressive stoppage victory over Akira Kikuchi in September. Yoshida’s hands will be a different sight at 170 lbs in the UFC, where the division is filled with slick grapplers and wrestlers.
According to Breen, Yoshida is expected to sign a formal contract next Monday and his first fight in the UFC could come as soon as April.

Exactly why I wrote “No, not that Yoshida” in the first sentence. ![]()
I’m not sure why Hidehiko wasn’t at Yarennoka, at least for an appearance. I know that he was rumored to be fighting Rickson Gracie at K-1 Dynamite!! but that fight was cancelled now that Gracie has decided to fight Sakuraba. I believe we will see Yoshida next at Sengoku in March.

Yeah, Hidehiko is managed by J-Rock, part of the organization behind the World Victory Road promotion. As John poited out, expect to see H Yoshida fight at Sengoku.
Yoshiyuki Yoshida is very well adjusted to fighting in a cage under the Unified Rules of MMA. Check out his fight against Akira Kikuchi of Kid Yamamoto’s Killer Bee team. Its available here on YouTube.
