A featherweight bout between Javier Vasquez and L.C. Davis that was previously scheduled for this weekend’s cancelled Affliction show has reportedly been moved to WEC 42, which takes place on August 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
According to Sherdog.com, World Extreme Cagefighting signed both fighters earlier this week. The bout will take place as part of a seven-fight undercard.
Following a four year hiatus from the sport, Vasquez returned to action in 2007 and has won three straight fights. Vasquez defeated Adriano Pereira and J.C. Pennington in consecutive EliteXC bouts before submitting Mark Kergosien in his most recent fight at Fight Force International’s “Ultimate Chaos” event on June 27.
Davis, a former IFL featherweight title challenger, has won four of his last five bouts. His victories include impressive wins over Bao Quach and Rafael Dias. He last competed at Sengoku’s “Seventh Battle” event in March, dropping a unanimous decision to Michihiro Omigawa.
WEC 42 is headlined by Miguel Torres defending his WEC bantamweight title against top contender Brian Bowles. Additional main card bouts include Joseph Benavidez vs. Dominick Cruz and Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Curran.
