A pair of fights between a quartet of fighters desperately seeking a win have reportedly been signed for the yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night 14 on September 17th.
Hard-hitting light heavyweight upstart Houston Alexander will return to action against Eric Schafer, who took the first half of this year as an opportunity to fight in smaller shows and bounce back from recent losses in the UFC according to our friends at MMA Junkie.
After surprising many in winning his first two UFC fights in dominant fashion, Alexander has lost his last two bouts. He most recently was the victim of a first-round knockout at the hands of James Irvin, just eight seconds into the fight. Irvin’s knockout tied the UFC record for the organization’s fastest finish in history.
Schafer picked up a pair of victories in separate Gladiators Fighting Series shows earlier this year. He bursted onto the UFC scene with an impressive submission win over Rob MacDonald but has since dropped his last two bouts in the Octagon, losing to Michael Bisping and Stephan Bonnar respectively.
Exciting middleweights Ed Herman and Alan Belcher will also reportedly collide at the event according to MMA Mania.
After dropping his first two UFC bouts, Herman went on to rack up three straight victories, including an impressive knockout of veteran Joe Doerksen, before ultimately being defeated by submission expert Demian Maia last month. Belcher snapped a two-fight winning streak in losing to Canadian newcomer Jason Day in April, lowering the Biloxi, Mississippi native to an even .500 record inside the confines of the UFC.
The event is expected to precede the debut of the upcoming eighth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV.
