Former UFC welterweight title challenger Frank Trigg will return to action and take on six-time PRIDE veteran and former Olympic judo gold medalist Makoto Takimoto at World Victory Road’s “Sengoku IV” show on August 24th in Japan.
The news comes from our friends at MMA Junkie, who have confirmed the bout with Trigg himself.
Trigg, who has recently been working with TNA Wrestling during his contract negotiations with the Japanese, most recently fought in December of last year, submitting fellow veteran Edwin Dewees with a kimura in the first round of their fight at HDNet Fights: Reckless Abandon.
Meanwhile Takimoto has won two out of his last three bouts, the lone loss coming at the hands of Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos at World Victory Road’s inaugural show back in March. Before then, Takimoto won a split decision over former UFC middleweight champion Murilo Bustamante at Yarennoka! on New Year’s Eve.
