Lightweights Thiago Tavares and Matt Wiman willl clash when the Ultimate Fighting Championship travels overseas to London, England for UFC 85.
The news comes from a report courtesy of Sherdog.
UFC 85 will feature a light heavyweight contenders match between former champion Chuck Liddell and “Ultimate Fighter” season two winner Rashad Evans. Heavyweight standouts Fabricio Werdum and Brandon Vera will also clash.
Tavares has won three out of his four fights inside the UFC. His lone loss to Tyson Griffin via unanimous decision is also the only loss of his professional career thus far. Tavares last won a hard fought decision over Michihiro Omigawa at UFC Fight Night 12 in January.
“My manager, Alex Davis, just confirmed this fight,” Tavares told Gleidson Venga. “I am very happy with the choice of this opponent because he is a tough guy who is coming off three wins in a row, and I think we will make a great fight for the public. I like to face those tougher guys, and I thought this is a great opportunity.”
After losing his UFC debut thanks to a Spencer Fisher flying knee, Wiman polished his skills on the fifth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and has since won his last three UFC fights, defeating Omigawa, Justin Buchholz, and Brian Geraghty in consecutive bouts.
