MMA Weekly is reporting that UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has yet to arrive in Cincinatti. A possible reason of Silva’s potential late arrival could be the acquisition of his visa only days ago:
Apparently, due to a recent holiday, government offices in Brazil were closed this past Friday and Monday thus delaying his visa being issued. He evidently did receive the visa on Wednesday and hopes to arrive in Cincinnati on Thursday.
Most UFC fighters typically arrive four to five days prior to an event to fulfill the necessary media and production requirements, as well as getting acclimated to their surroundings and finish any last minute weight cutting.
Hopefully visa problems are the real reason why Silva hasn’t arrived yet and nothing else. He’s going to be a very busy man in the next two days, especially if he still has a good amount of weight to cut.
Update 10/18 2:00 PM: Silva safely arrived in Cincinnati late last night.
