Matt Serra protege Pete “Drago” Sell will reportedly look to continue his winning ways at welterweight when he takes on fellow former “Ultimate Fighter” cast member Matt Brown at UFC 96 on March 7 in Columbus, Ohio.
The news comes from MMA Weekly, which has confirmed the bout with sources close to Sell himself. The bout will likely take place as part of UFC 96’s non-televised preliminary card.
Sell was brought back into the UFC despite losing four straight fights in the promotion for UFC 90 in October, where he picked up his first win in over two years in the form of an unanimous decision over Josh Burkman.
Brown, a former member of Tito Ortiz’s Team Punishment, has gone 2-1 so far since leaving the “TUF” house. The Columbus, Ohio native picked up his second career win over Matt Arroyo at The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale in June, but ended up losing a hard-fought split decision to Dong-Hyun Kim in his next fight at UFC 88. Brown bounced back to submit Ryan Thomas with an armbar in the second round at UFC 91 on November 15 in his most recent fight.
