UFC newcomers Tom Egan and John Hathaway could meet in a welterweight bout that would take place at UFC 93 on January 17 in Dublin, Ireland according to a report by Fighters Only Magazine, which has confirmed Egan’s participation with the fighter himself.
“It’s going to be a fantastic experience,” Egan said in the report. “I was at UFC 89 in Birmingham last month just kind of taking it all in, and the atmosphere was unbelievable. I would describe myself as a mixed martial artist. I do like to use the jab, I like to box, but I also make sure I have all the tools I need for every phase of the fight.”
Egan, a native of Ireland, is currently listed with a 3-0 record as a professional. He has competed exclusive in his native country and most recently fought in September, defeating Jonny Shiels via second-round TKO.
His rumored opponent, Hathaway, is much more experienced, having fought for Cage Rage multiple times throughout his career. He remains undefeated and last fought at Cage Rage 28 in September, where he submitted Jack Mason with strikes in the first round.
