Jason Day may be potentially replacing Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos as David Loiseau’s opponent at Hardcore Championship Fighting’s “Crow’s Nest” event on March 29th.
The event, which is scheduled to take place at the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau, Quebec, was originally slated to have Loiseau take on Santos for the promotion’s middleweight title provided that Loiseau was victorious over Day this past Saturday night.
However Loiseau ended up losing a controversial split decision to Day in a fight that Day believes Loiseau should have won on the judges’ scorecards, at least from what Loiseau tells The Fight Network in their latest ‘Great Fight North’ column.
“Jason looked me in the eye after the fight and told me that I got robbed,” Loiseau said. “I fought him in Calgary. Things will be a lot different if he comes to my neck of the woods.”
A possible trip to Quebec for Day might just become a reality. The former UFC middleweight title contender has stated that HCF CEO Keith Crawford is looking to replace Santos in favor of a rematch between Loiseau and Day at the promotion’s next event in March.
“We’re looking for a rematch,” Loiseau said. “They’re looking at replacing Santos with Day, but it’s not for sure. That’s the fight the fans want to see. It has to happen. I can’t wait to do it again.”
