Ryan Jensen has apparently been revealed as the replacement opponent for UFC newcomer Demian Maia at UFC 77 according to The Fight Network.
Nebraskan Ryan Jensen (11-1) has been tapped to replace an injured Marvin Eastman at Oct. 20’s UFC 77 “Hostile Territory” at the U. S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jensen, 30, challenges his second jiu-jitsu standout inside the Octagon in just under two months with Demian Maia, an Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling World Champion making his UFC debut. Maia (5-0) dispatched striker Curtis Stout at the Gracie Fighting Championship in May, also in Ohio.
Maia’s original opponent, Marvin Eastman was forced to pull out of the scheduled bout after having to undergo surgery on his eye.
Jensen sports a professional MMA record of 11-2 and owns wins over Curtis Stout, Rob Kimmons, and Travis Fulton. Jensen made his UFC debut at UFC 74, losing to Thales Leites by submission.
MMA Junkie is reporting that nothing has been signed although Jensen is expected to ink his name to the contract in next couple of days.
