Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga will reportedly take on Gladiators Fighting Series veteran Josh Hendricks at UFC 91, which will likely take place on November 15 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon, according to Five Ounces of Pain.
The report cites a source speaking on the condition of anonymity. Bout agreements are apparently yet to be finalized but both fighters have verbally agreed to fight.
Gonzaga fell in his only UFC heavyweight title opportunity to date, losing to Randy Couture via third-round TKO at UFC 74. He was then stopped with strikes by longtime rival Fabricio Werdum at UFC 80 but bounced back to submit Justin McCully at UFC 86 in July.
Hendricks, who has also fought inside the confines of King of the Cage, is currently riding a ten-fight undefeated streak. He most recently scored a first-round knockout of James Powell at Legends of Fighting 21 in November of last year. However Hendricks’ record against UFC veterans isn’t so promising; he has been defeated by Sam Hoger, Travis Wiuff, and Tom Murphy.
UFC 91 is also expected to feature a possible heavyweight title bout between Couture and Brock Lesnar, as well as a lightweight contenders showdown between Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson.
