Elite Xtreme Combat has reportedly come to terms on the signing of PRIDE and Cage Rage veteran Cyrille Diabate, a move that will surely bolster the promotion’s almost non-existent light heavyweight division.
Diabate’s manager, Ken Pavia, informed The Fight Network of his client’s signing.
The France native has not fought since submitting Ryan Reynolds at Cage Rage 21: Judgement Day last April. Diabate, who joined the California-branch of Team Quest earlier this year in an effort to improve his wrestling, was originally scheduled to fight Travis Wiuff at a December IFO event but was forced to pull out after suffering a broken ankle during training.
Diabate will now attempt to go up against Wiuff again when Florida-based Combat Fighting Championships makes it’s overseas debut on May 17th at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.
There is no word on a potential opponent or EliteXC debut date for Diabate at the moment.
