Former UFC and PRIDE heavyweight title contender Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will reportedly take on fellow former K-1 kickboxer Jerome LeBanner at DREAM’s planned fourth show on June 16th in Japan.
The news comes from MMA-ID, the same website that hosts Cro Cop’s official blog.
The Croatian was victorious at DREAM’s inaugural event last month, stopping Pancrase veteran Tatsuya Mizuno with strikes less than a minute into the first round. The fight will be Cro Cop’s second since going 1-2 in an unsuccessful stint with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Croatian is currently on a hiatus from competing in the promotion. UFC President Dana White has stated that he believes Cro Cop will be returning before the end of the year.
LeBanner has not fought since knocking out journeyman Jimmy Ambriz at a K-1 Hero’s event in March 2006. LeBanner is 3-1-1 thus far in his professional mixed martial arts career and also owns wins over Bob Sapp and Yoshihiro Akiyama.

Thanks for the heads-up, post has been edited. The two K-1 databases I found didn’t have their bout listed.

No prob it was early in their career and it bugs me cus i catn get the whole fight just highlights.

But could you at least elaborate that the bob sapp fight wasnt under full mma rules. It was half k1 half mma

this fight wont happen.
crocop knows that one punch from jerome with 4oz gloves would crack the glass jaw
crocop will pull out of this guaranteed

Jerome isnt the fighter he once was.
I mean look at his wins in mma.Ambriz Ok he fought in KOTC Im fairly certain but not even close to the level that cro cop fought.Akiyama tech a middleweight fighter. And sapp although that wasnt even full mma rules bout and yet under the k1 portion of the fight jerome still couldnt finish and cro cop brutalized sapp.
This isnt mma math this is looking at the experience factor that cro cop has over jerome.
