A welterweight bout pitting Canadian prospect T.J. Grant up against Iowa submission artist Kevin Burns is reportedly likely for UFC 107, which is currently slated to take place at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee on December 12.
According to MMANews.com, both fighters have agreed to the bout and are now awaiting an official announcement from the UFC. B.J. Penn is expected to defend his UFC lightweight title against Diego Sanchez in the show’s main event.
Grant has split his two bouts inside the Octagon thus far. The former TKO Championship Fighting standout won a hard-fought, split decision over Ryo Chonan in his UFC debut at UFC 97 in April, but fell to undefeated Korean fighter Dong-Hyun Kim via unanimous decision at UFC 100 on July 11.
Following a surprisingly successful start to his UFC career, Burns has faltered as of late. After being knocked out via a highlight-reel head kick in a rematch against Anthony Johnson last December, Burns dropped a unanimous decision to Chris Lytle in his most recent bout at “The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale” in June.
