International veteran David Baron will reportedly take on fellow UFC newcomer Jim Miller when the organization travels overseas to the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England for UFC 89: Bisping vs. Leben on October 18th.
The news comes from Damon Martin of MMA Weekly, who cites sources close to the fight as confirming that it’s happening. The bout will likely take place as one of UFC 89’s non-televised preliminary fights and will be the twelfth and final matchup on the card.
Baron, a veteran of the PRIDE Fighting Championships, is mostly known for his first-round submission loss to Takanori Gomi two years. The 35-year-old scored his biggest career victory to date this past May, submitting Japanese standout Hayato Sakurai at Shooto’s 20th anniversary show.
Miller, along with his brother Dan, signed a four-fight deal with the UFC last month. He was victorious in his IFL debut in April, winning a hard-fought unanimous decision over one-time lightweight contender Bart Palaszewski. Miller also owns a pair of wins over UFC veteran Chris Liguori.
