Former UFC heavyweight champion Randy “The Natural” Couture has re-signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship inking a new six-fight, 28 month contract that will likely see Couture finish his career under the UFC banner.
Couture and UFC officials came to the agreement before his bout with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102 and following the bout, Couture said he’ll consider the option of moving back to light heavyweight.
Couture, the founder of Xtreme Couture, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 16-10. Couture holds victories over the likes of Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Tim Sylvia, Gabriel Gonzaga, Vitor Belfort, Pedro Rizzo and Kevin Randleman.
In a recent interview with Sherdog.com, Couture said “Maybe this year, or maybe the first of next year. “I haven’t really looked at the cards and the shows that they have. What’s on the schedule, I don’t know, but I’m especially leaning towards dropping down. I’m pushing in weight. It would be easy for me to make 205 and there’s more interesting fights there right now.”
