— Towering heavyweight prospect Stefan Struve has reportedly been tapped to face undefeated All-American collegiate wrestler Chase Gormley at UFC 104, which takes place on October 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.. Bout agreements have apparently been signed. Gormley was originally slated to face Ben Rothwell at the event but Rothwell was recently moved into a main card matchup against Cain Velasquez. — A number of notable MMA veterans are in action this weekend. Art of Fighting’s latest offering in Tampa, Florida includes Seth Petruzelli, competing for the first time since his 14-second win over Kimbo Slice, going up against Chris Baten. Marcio Cruz and Delson Heleno will be on the AOF card as well. Neil Grove and Brad Pickett will also be defending their respective Ultimate Challenge UK titles in London, England while Dokonjonosuke Mishima, Masakazu Imanari, and Ryo Chonan are in action at DEEP 43 in Japan. — A press conference was held yesterday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to announce the star-studded card for Bitetti Combat 4, which takes place on September 12. The three headline bouts will feature a trio of Brazilian fighting legends: Ricardo Arona will return to action for the first time in over two years to face Marvin Eastman, Paulo Filho will challenge “Ultimate Fighter” alumnus Alex Schoenauer, and Pedro Rizzo will rematch fellow former UFC heavyweight title challenger Jeff Monson. — Popular light heavyweight prospect Jon Jones has formally joined Greg Jackson’s camp based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which sports the likes of Georges St. Pierre, Nate Marquardt, and Rashad Evans among others. “Jon Jones has joined our team and he’s out here training,” Jackson said during a recent interview with Tapout Radio. “He’s just a pleasure to work with. — UFC newcomer Steve Lopez will reportedly replace an injured Thiago Tavares against Jim Miller on the preliminary portion of UFC 103, which takes place on September 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
