Quick Hits: Couture-Vera Official for UFC 105, Gomi to Fight at VTJ ‘09 & More

— UFC Hall-of-Famer Randy Couture will indeed drop down to 205 lbs to meet Brandon Vera in the main event of UFC 105 on November 15. The UFC officially announced the bout today. Couture (16-10) will fight at light heavyweight for the first time since suffering his second straight loss to former champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 57 and entering a temporary retirement. [UFC.com]

— Former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi and Japanese MMA pioneer Rumina Sato have been announced as participants Vale Tudo Japan 2009 on October 30, the first time the event will be held in nearly ten years. According to Gomi, the fight will be his last in his native country of Japan. A featherweight bout between Takeshi Inoue and Alexandre Franca Nogueira will also take place at the show. [Sherdog.com]

— A bantamweight bout between Frank Gomez and Seth Dikun has reportedly been signed to take place at WEC 44 on November 18. Both Gomez and Dikun have gone 1-1 inside the WEC thus far. Gomez was submitted by Scott Jorgensen but bounced back to tap Noah Thomas while Dikun dropped a unanimous decision to Charlie Valencia before submitting Rolando Perez. [MMA Junkie]

— Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Rodney Wallace has reportedly inked a four-fight deal with the UFC. A time frame for his UFC debut is unknown at this time. Wallace has won all eight of his professional bouts to date, including submission victories over IFL veterans Antwain Britt and Aaron Stark. [Five Ounces of Pain]

— The Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino has announced a press conference for Wednesday afternoon to announce a new “in-house” MMA promotion that will take the place of the Palace Fighting Championships, which ended its affiliation with the casino over the summer.
