UFC lightweight contender B.J. Penn was sentenced earlier today to one year probation and fined $2,000 for allegedly hitting a police officer outside of a Hawaii bar over two years ago.
The news comes from a report by the Honolulu Advertiser.
Penn originally pleaded no contest back in August. As part of the agreement between Penn and prosecutors, he must submit to random drug and alcohol testing, attend counseling, and perform 50 hours of community service. If all goes well over the next year, Penn’s record will be expunged by the court.
Penn is also prohibited from contacting the police officer that he allegedly assaulted.
Touch of gloves to MMA Mania for the find.
