The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that a scheduled welterweight bout between Karo Parisyan and Yoshiyuki Yoshida has been pulled from tomorrow night’s UFC 88 event at the last minute after Parisyan reportedly suffered a back injury.
The UFC will not be able to find a replacement opponent for Yoshida in time, therefore the event will go on with only nine bouts. A welterweight bout between former “Ultimate Fighter” contestant Matt Brown and Dong-Hyun Kim will now be moved up to the pay-per-view main card.
Attempts to contact Parisyan’s management team for comment by MMA on Tap were unsuccessful. While the UFC has stated that a back injury is the official reason behind Parisyan’s withdrawal, the Armenian revealed in recent weeks that he has been suffering from panic attacks.
