A bantamweight bout between top-ranked fighters Damacio Page and Akitoshi Tamura has reportedly been added to WEC 43, which will take place on September 2 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.
The news comes from Ray Hui of MMA FanHouse. The bout will likely be part of the televised main card on Versus. Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson collide for the interim WEC lightweight title in the show’s featured attraction.
Page picked up the biggest win of his professional career to date at WEC 39 in March. The Greg Jackson product needed only 18 seconds to dispatch of former Shooto title challenger Marcos Galvao.
Tamura meanwhile has split his two fights under the WEC banner. He fell in his WEC debut in December, succumbing to a third-round submission at the hands slick grappler and former IFL champ Wagnney Fabiano, but bounced back to defeat Manny Tapia at WEC 40 in April.
Additional rumored bouts for WEC 43 include Tapia vs. Eddie Wineland, Fabiano vs. Erik Koch, and Alex Karalexis vs. Anthony Pettis.
