Despite being stopped by light heavyweight prospect Glover Teixeira at the Palace Fighting Championship’s last event in January, Chute Boxe product Jorge Oliveira took advantage of an impromptu title shot, winning a unanimous decision over then-champion Jeremy Freitag last night at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California.

The majority of the fight took place on the feet. Oliveira used superior striking to tag Freitag early and often. Even though Freitag scored a few takedowns throughout the course of the fight, he was never able to mount much offense, allowing Oliveira to score points from the bottom.

Whether or not Teixeira will receive a title shot rematch against Oliveira remains to be seen. One could surmise that Teixeira would not be competing for the belt based on rumors that he may be headed to either the Ultimate Fighting Championship or World Extreme Cagefighting in the near future. However one thing is for certain, Teixeira keeps on winning.

Texeira, a long-time training partner of Chuck Liddell, easily dispatched of opponent Buckley Acosta, stopping him with strikes only a minute into the fight.

In a pair of eliminator bouts, Jorge Evangelista squeaked out a close and potentially controversial split decision over fellow featherweight Enoch Wilson while Phil Collins submitted last-minute injury replacement Mike Martinez, earning a rematch with middleweight champion Kenny Ento in the near future.
