“Ultimate Fighter 3” product Mike Nickels won his second straight fight since being released from the UFC on Saturday night, defeating opponent James Funny via a first-round armlock in the main event of Ring of Fire 34: “Judgment Day”, which took place at the Broomfield Events Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
The Nickels-Funny fight was made the show’s featured attraction after a lightweight bout between UFC veteran Alvin Robinson and Anthony Morrison was scrapped at the last minute after Robinson suffered a broken arm during a recent training session.
Also on the card, Luke Caudillo was upset by Josh Arocho, who submitted Caudillo with a rear-naked choke midway through the second round of their fight. A pair of “Young Guns” titles were handed out as well as local products Tyler Toner and Brendan Schaub won their fights to earn their featherweight and heavyweight belts respectively.
