A heavyweight bout between longtime veterans Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo as well as a heated clash pitting Phil Davis against Vinny Magalhaes have both been added to UFC 159, which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on April 27.
The matchups were officially announced on tonight's edition of "UFC Tonight" on Fuel TV.
The show is headlined by a UFC light heavyweight title fight between current "The Ultimate Fighter 17" coaches, reigning champion Jon Jones and challenger Chael Sonnen.
Nelson rides a two-fight win streak into his meeting with Kongo, knocking out Dave Herman at UFC 146 last May and following up with a first-round TKO of Matt Mitrione at "The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale" in December.
Kongo bounced back from an upset at the hands of Mark Hunt last February to grind out an unanimous decision over Shawn Jordan at UFC 149 over the summer.
Davis and Magalhaes have had multiple confrontations through social media since a planned bout between the two and subsequent attempt to reschedule fell through late last year.
"Mr. Wonderful" had an August meeting with Wagner Prado ruled a no-contest after Prado was unable to continue due to an accidental eye poke. The two met again at UFC 153 this past October, where Davis won via submission. Magalhaes was victorious in his UFC return in September, submitting Igor Pokrajac with a second-round armbar at UFC 152.
