Josh Neer’s scheduled fight against Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 17 on February 7 will go on as planned despite Neer’s recent arrest after leading Iowa police on a high-speed chase following a hit-and-run incident on New Year’s Eve.
Neer’s management team, KO Dynasty Sports Management, released an official statement on the matter Monday night.
“Josh will be fighting Mac Danzig February 7th in the co-main event in Tampa as scheduled,” the statement read. “Josh has been training very hard for this fight, and is looking forward to putting on a great fight for the UFC and fans. Josh would like to once again thank his family, fans, friends, training partners, UFC, and everyone that has supported him throughout his career.”
Neer allegedly ran from police after hitting an officer’s car late last Wednesday. He is currently facing charges for hit-and-run, eluding police and driving while intoxicated, the second time he has been charged with the latter offense.
