NBC Sports Ranks the World’s Best

On this week’s edition of MMA Fight Weekly, NBC Sports’ ranks the world’s top mixed martial artists. (Using the pound-for-pound method I’m assuming) Their list isn’t half bad in my opinion. In order from first to last: Fedor Emelianenko, Anderson Silva, B.J. Penn, Georges St. Pierre, Urijah Faber, Forrest Griffin, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Quinton Jackson, Randy Couture, Miguel Torres.

What do you think?

Torres Grifin and Urijah Faber need to fight more elite fighters to be listed in this, They are good so far but they needsa few more career defining moments to make them worthy of this type of hype. Griffin, he hasn’t done nearly enough to be worthy of being on that list, as he barely, just barely beat Rampage, he needs to clearly beat Rampage to really be that title holder, and if he can accomplish that, then he needs to take out a few more real fighters to say he’s that good. but 1st he needs to clearly beat rampage.. Randy is incredible, but is unlikely to fight ever again so they should use only active fighters. the rest are great picks

After GSP i think they took a break and bobby brown stopped by.  i really like faber n torres though, but Bat said it already, they to more fights v top ranked opponent.  but at least they have destroyed the people they had to face.

i mean for real, Forrest?  cough ... o.O

I think Forrest actually belongs there. Two consecutive wins over Shogun and Rampage, who were both high on the P4P list at one time definitely mean something.

I have no problems with any part of the list.  This isn’t necessarily my list…BUT, I think you can make a valid argument for any of those picks.

I think Faber was spot-on too. Faber has dominated his division.  No matter what, it will always seem like he is fighting a lack of competition because featherweight fights are as publicized and don’t garner the same amount of hype as the “UFC” weight classes.  Out of all of the champions on the list (except Nog, I believe), he was the lowest at #5.  Sounds fair to me.
