More on the EliteXC Payment Controversy

The fallout from EliteXC’s “Heat” show this past weekend seems to be calming down, but the accusations that the organization may have attempted to bribe Seth Petruzelli to keep his fight with Kimbo Slice standing with an extra bonus are just heating up.

In his first response since Petruzelli’s revelation and quick retraction of his comments yesterday on an Orlando, Florida radio station, EliteXC Head of Fight Operations Jeremy Lappen has denied offering any kind of payment to Petruzelli in a report by Sherdog.com.

“Obviously we didn’t pay [Petruzelli] to stand,” Lappen is quoted as saying. “Kimbo had trained for months to fight a guy who’s fighting on the ground. We don’t care if people stand or take people down or what. It doesn’t matter to us. All we want is an exciting fight.”

After contacting the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Five Ounces of Pain was told by press secretary Alexis Antonacci that the organization currently doesn’t have any plans to investigate Petruzelli’s original comments.

Even though EliteXC may seem out of danger from the above comments, news is now coming to light that they may have offered Ken Shamrock an unknown sum to stand with Slice as well courtesy of Bryan Alvarez in his latest edition of Figure Four Weekly.

“Seth Petruzelli said that he was paid to stand with Kimbo,” Alvarez said. “Well, he said that and then he claimed he never said it. For what it’s worth, we heard in the days leading up to the fight that Ken Shamrock was going to be paid to stand with him as well.”

We’ll definitely have more on this as new information leaks out…
