MMA on Tap Top 10 - June 5, 2007

Here are the latest MMA on Tap Top 10 fighter rankings. We will be updating these pretty much whenever an adjustment is needed, like after an event for example.

The rankings break down into six different lists of 10. Five of them are by division and the last is our pound-for-pound rankings. If you ever want to compare these with your own or just take a look at the latest update, you can find them under the Top 10 category in our features section.

The rankings were tabulated by Scott, Bill, David, and myself. Feel free to chime in with your own lists or any adjustments that can be recommended.

thanks for the great list, but i’m going to try pick holes in it smile

how come GSP lost to Serra and stayed top of his weight division, and Chuck Liddell loses his first fight in 3 years and slips to 4th (btw when did Rua last fight?).

Also, do you factor inactivity into your lists? unless i’m mistaken, Shogun Rua nad BJ Penn for example haven’t fought a top 10 for a while and it must be a year since Wanderlei Silva won a fight.

Also, Rampage Jackson clearly has Liddell’s number with two comanding wins and a LHW belt that justifies his move up the rankings… but what about the fact that Wanderlei Silva Destroyed Jackson in their last two fights?

And Also John, in November you wrote an article about top 3 HW being Fedor, Cro Cop and Barnett… Fedor obviously stays top but barnett has lost his last 2 fights and stays 3rd. Cro Cop beat Barnett in Septmeber, and Sanchez in Feb, before losing to Gonzaga in April. How does he go from 2nd to 5th on 1 loss and Barnett loses 2 consecutive fights and stays 3rd?

Great topic though and can’t wait to see what people think about the rankings.

i have to agree but it is hard to rank the LHW with the Liddell/Rampage fight, especially Silva having beaten Rampage…. but i want to know where kazushi sakarauba is at. i know he just lost to Gracie but hes gotta be somewhere close to the list… no?

Wow that’s actually really hard to come up with, because you can poke holes in almost every combination or theory possible. it’s really easy to say why someone should or shouldn’t go on a list… but working out where on the list is harder…

I think MMA on Tap’s list is easily tops.  Good effort by the rest, but the guys here did a great job.  Old top 10s at this point, but still pretty good now.
