Jake Shields is a bit overrated at #4 WW. Sanchez and Alves should be ranked higher IMO.

Is it me or does it seem like sanchez shouldnt be on there at all… The guy is a jesus freak..

Where in God’s name is Norifumi Yamamoto?  He is second to Urijah Faber ONLY in that weight class!

Derek, I’d ask this.  When was the last time Kid fought a top guy in the featherweight division?  Rani Yahya, whom he fought last December, is a small bantamweight.  Fernandes, last May, is only 2-2 and completely one dimensional.  Majoros in December 2006, debuted against Kid.  Before that was Miyata, an under .500 average lightweight.  He fought Caol Uno in September 2005 to see the last highly rated opponent.  You have to go all the way back to May 2003 to find when he last fought a highly ranked featherweight. 

Take a real good look at his record and you see a lot of sub .500 fighters, even guys making their debut.  There is no denying how good he is or his skill level, but he simply has not had to use those skills against top guys in a very, very long time.  At least he’s fighting at featherweight against Joe Benavidez next week. Benavidez, while not ranked yet, will be a better test than Kid has faced in years.

So AdaMBomB, you dont think that Sanchez should be on their at all because hes a “Jesus freak”?  Thats probably one of the stupidest things ive read on these comments since day one of reading them. 

His only 2 losses come from numbers 2, and 3 on the world rankings here.  With wins over Riggs, Caro, Nick Diaz, and Florian. Hes young, not declining in skill or ability, and you think he should be off the list because he openly states his beliefs in Jesus?

As we all know, this weekend is going to be absolutely crazy because of everything going on (UFC, Affliction, DREAM) and I’m already certain there will be movement no matter what. Next weekend is EliteXC and the next two weeks after that feature the WEC and UFC once again. I’m pinpointing right after UFC 87 to throw the next set up, hopefully the Monday after the show. (Aug 11th)

However if the rankings need to be completely revamped because of the results of the fights, we will throw another set up if need be.

HAHA its not a sin to compete in MMA. Now, some will tell you that if your intent is to injure the other competitor more than necessary, it can be, and I would agree with that.  But to say that someone who armbars another, and releases when he taps, is a sinner makes no sense. 

You cant compare a brawl on the street where two guys shouting, then shoving, then fighting trying to hurt each other, to MMA competition.  Where respect and responsible tactics are shown.

A church official commented on this subject with hockey.  He said that fighting was a part of hockey, and if your intentions are with hockey in mind, then its acceptable.  If your intentions are with bloodlust, then it is a sin. 

I will never say that there are no fighters who fight with bloodlust.  In fact I was in the UFC crowd shouting “boos!” at Renato Sobral at the David Heath fight.  But for fighters who fight to win, and show skill, with good intentions, who are you to call them a sinner?

Armpit of a state?  Arizona is one of the fastest growing states in terms of population.  One problem we have is all the people coming over from California who want to live here.  My job is anything but dead end, and I am aware that i can move.  But i choose to live right here in the city given the title “most livable city”.  A city that many people who have the ability to live anywhere in the world choose to call home.  I have been to Sacramento, LA, San Diego, and I wont bash them because they are nice places.  But in my opinion, they are the same thing, only with a beach and a higher cost of living.

Well it also goes along with the location.  If you go to school in a place where the cost of living is higher, your tuition will be.  That is why schools in New York like Vassar and Sarah Lawrence College are almost $40k.
